LittleBigPlanet 3 Will Be Taken Off PS Store on 31st October

This is everything that is wrong with current Fony Sony.

Servers have been dead since the start of the year and were taken down just after Media Molecule uploaded all their objects, textures and so on for public consumption.

Total **** up.

Wasn’t the hacker some incel who was salty about the lack of support?

Shame to see it go, the series offered a ton of fun. LBP3 really had it rough with the constant server hacking.

They should mark it to a dollar. In all honesty lbp3 is the worse in the series. Shame all those user created levels are gone.

(Though I admit I don't know much about that hacker story, but I do know he didn't like the lack of support the games got. Sony then shut the servers down afterwards and the headlines were blaming the hacker. Easiest blame shift in Sony's history)

A discounted price would be nice before it's delisted. Hasn't featured in a sale for over 6 months.

TBH, preferred LBP 1 & 2 ('Uncle Jalapenos Boom Town' being a particular favourite level, especially in manic 4-player mode!)
Perhaps Media Molecule added an extra layer of magic dust over those? Of course those servers are long dead and the first two LBP games are permanently stuck on the PS3.

Ugh. My daughter is currently playing it. Luckily, I snagged it a long time ago.

Such a pity. The series never really lived up to its potential for me (the jump physics were much too floaty), but sad to see it go this way.

Mega yikes. It is a super bad look for a first-party platform holder to pull one of their own games from their own service. Sony isn't the only one to do this, but it's always seriously bad when it happens.

I think its kinda sad that Sackboy's legacy has kinda been left behind because now there is no modern way to play any of the actual LBP games easily, and while Sackboy A Big Adventure is pretty good (been playing through it throughout the year), it's nothing like what Sackboy was here to originally do, so it's sad he is kinda just a little platformer dude, when is meant to represent absolute creativity

Huh, isn't that a coincidence? I picked up the PS4 version at my local game/toy store a few days ago.. But yes, like others said.. pulling this from their digital store is a BIG yikes.

The single player is about 3-5 hours long. Kinda makes sense that if you can't have access to the online of this game, that there's no point in keeping it up on the store. Only other logical thing to do is relist the game as singleplayer at a discounted price.

I hope they release a trilogy collection for PS5 at some point. I love these games.

Rumour has it that the person who hacked it found a way to use the notification system to post anti-trans messages to anybody who logged in, but I have nothing to back that up with, so make of that what you will.

Regardless, the vast majority of the DLC is licensed content from companies other than Sony, and some of the DLC pieces probably might have been made by other studios as well. Combine that with the fact that the game has lost one of the three core tenets of it's existence - the share part of Play, Create, Share. This is simply one that has fallen to Father Time.

There are probably a few people still playing each of these games in some capacity, but so few these days that it's no longer worth bothering for Sony to renew the licenses and pay the royalties. You (plural) may complain, but the simple fact of the matter is that nobody was playing it anyway. It's the same concept that killed any further hope for Dreams - nobody wanted to play it, so they've halted support on it, and won't ever port it. Expect Media Molecule's next game to be something a little more traditional, maybe in the vein of Tearaway or Sackboy: A Big Adventure.

I'm guessing that like with sports and racing games this is due to licensing expiring for all the licensed music in LBP/sackboy. I assumed it was perpetual and mostly Sony/BMG/Columbia records licensing but maybe still finite. .

I smell another Cash Gra...er...I mean Remake/Remaster on the way...

Taken of on the 31st with a friendly heads-up on the 8th. Et tu, Sony?🙄 $20 may not be much in general, but the deadline only covers the very payday I was gearing up to pay $50 for PS+ renewal, and I'm frankly not fond of such short notices in general. Or does everyone involved really just decide it overnight?

Speaking of PS+, I do ironically have the game long redeemed on my main acc as an IGC item, but if maintaining the regional sub was still commercially viable, I wouldn't have been using a US account for almost two years now.😆

Ahh LBP... there was so much to like about those games, but I always felt the floaty controls was what kept it back.

Wonder if they are trying to make a collection. I would buy that for a dollar. I would like to give the first game another shot. I have had a platformer craving for a while now. I come to like simple games a lot more these days.

@zupertramp That's true but just because a game gets de-listed doesn't mean the patches aren't available.
I mean look at Driveclub - 10 years old now and dead as a dodo but the patches are still available, apparently.

@sanderson72 yeah wasn't sure on the particulars with this one but it kinda sounds like it's getting abandoned altogether. Not sure though. At the end of the day, with modern games being put out in rather shoddy shape at release, it's clear we're still at the mercy of the continued operation of some server somewhere.

I adored LBP1 on PS3 I absolutely did I bought it for my 2 nieces along with EyePet but they seemed to have lost interest in both. Yet me gave LBP a try and I was addicted thanks to Stephen Fry's narrative voice I had so much fun just playing the single player and trying and I mean TRYING it make my own level lol.

But I stopped after that never played 2 or 3 it's a shame it's come to this and Sony who pushed for LBP on PS3 a lot seemed to have thrown it away but like KillZone and Resistance. I understand 3 had hacker issues and all but to remember the promotions it got and now look at it, can say the same for most games but at the time PS3 and Sony pushed for Family friendly gaming at home

@sanderson72 Thinking about getting DriveClub used I've never played it, my brother had it on disc and sold it on eBay but he put the trophies on my profile. Is all the DLC for it free and available still??? And will the disc version work on PS5??

All we've got of Sackboy is Big Adventure and let's face it, it's just not as good as LBP 1 & 2

Fix the server problems and lock it down! The AaronDBaron Disneyland worlds were the best part of LBP2, had bugs in LBP3 that made Jungle Cruise mostly unplayable. We would just swim through the ride. Now they only live on in youtube videos. Shame on Sony. If LBP4 comes out with content from all 3 games, and costs $10 a month, I'm in.

Blame the hackers not Sony…. Yes the third had issues cause sumo owners sold company to pathetic people that were haters from start after 2 but still good game….To all you hackers go to hell I hope karma gets u… lbp3 still good game move aside from servers….
